About Ava
Dubbed ‘The new queen of spy fiction’ by The Guardian, ‘The real thing’ by the Washington Post, and ‘A worthy heir to the James Bond mantle’ by James Patterson, Ava Glass is the UK’s leading female spy fiction writer.
Her latest book, The Hiding Season, follows the successful Emma Makepeace series, which includes Alias Emma, The Trap, and her critically acclaimed 2023 thriller The Traitor, which was a Washington Post Book of the Year, a Cosmopolitan Book of the Year, and a Barnes and Noble book of the month. Film rights to the series have been acquired.
Ava’s spy novels are inspired by her five years of first-hand experience working in counter-terrorism communications for the British government, alongside her past work as an investigative journalist and crime reporter for publications including Reuters and the Dallas Morning News.
One of vanishingly few female authors writing spy fiction, Ava Glass is one of the top authors breaking down the door to the most male-dominated genre in fiction.
Ava has written two previous series under other names: Night School (written as CJ Daugherty), and The Echo Killing (written as Christi Daugherty). Collectively, her novels have sold mutiple millions of copies worldwide.
In addition to her writing work, Ava is also an experienced broadcaster and a regular commentator on the world of espionage. She frequently appears on Sky News, BBC News, the BBC World Service, and BBC Radio 4. She also co-presents a true crime documentary TV series, Killers Caught on Camera, and is a regular guest expert on current affairs podcasts.
